I believe that being a research assistant during doctoral education is probably the best learning experience. One can learn so much more by DOING rather than just reading about research. By the time you get to doing your own research with your dissertation you already have experience and confidence to actually conduct the research. what do the rest of you think?

I really like the new format for this blog. It makes it much easier to see the three separate categories of blog discussions. I wonder if you (Amy) started a specific thread about some issue that doctoral students face for which others may have some suggestions might stimulate some discussion?

Hi Susan,
You are right--not much action on our blog! What kinds of information/posts do you think would attract PhD students to the blog more often?
Thanks,
Amy

I am a PhD Nursing student at Georgia State University. My area of interest is ER Nurse recognition of possible cardiac symptoms in women (and the delay because of lack of recognition). I am in my second year going fulltime and am up to my nose in work to do!

Hello,

I am a PhD student at Texas Woman's University-Denton, Texas. I am halfway through the course work and have just recently passed my prelims. My research interest is a education program designed for new parents of infants to provide information about normal illnesses and when to worry. I am hoping an intervention will have a positive effect on the reduction of non-emergent emergency room visits.

Hi all!
I am a doctoral student at Georgia State University studying pattern recognition to teach critical thinking, clinical decision making, and clinical judgment using high fidelity simulation.
I should be writing a paper at this minute...so back to it!

Hi!
I'm Ann McNallen, a doctoral student at Virginia Commonwealth University. I'm trying to find out anything I can about Susan Kun Leddy and her Human Energy Conceptual Model, published in Visions in 2004. Has anyone run across anything about her?
Thanks!
